Under a car, on someone else's drive
When you work from a van, there is no front desk and nobody to pick up. You are lying on a driveway with your hands full, and the phone rings. Tilly answers every call in your business name, day and night, and sends you the job so you can call back when the wheel is back on.
What she asks
- The registration, make and model.
- What the car needs: a service, brakes, a repair, diagnostics or a breakdown.
- Where the car is: the address, or at least the town and postcode.
- A time that suits, from your Tilly diary on Pro and Business.
- Their name and the best number to call back on, read back to check.
Every message is emailed to you with a short summary.
Breakdowns and brake problems
"Broken down", "warning light", "brakes" and "accident" are urgent words in our garage set-up, so those calls are flagged urgent from the start, with a text to you on Pro and Business. With a transfer rule, she can put them straight through to you. If someone has broken down somewhere unsafe, she tells them to get to safety and call their breakdown cover, or 999 if anyone is in danger.
Booking jobs in
On Pro and Business she books jobs into your Tilly diary, built from your working hours, and checks your Google, Outlook or Apple calendar first, so she does not offer a time you are already busy. Choose whether each booking is confirmed straight away or sent to you to confirm from your phone. On Starter she takes every detail for you to call back.
Prices
She never quotes a repair price you have not listed. If you have set prices, such as for a service or a call-out, add them and she uses your words.
Covering your area
When a caller gives a postcode, she checks where it is and how far it is from your base, and answers from the areas you cover, so you only drive to the jobs you want.
Put the same on your Google Business Profile: the areas you cover, and every job you do with a line on what it involves. Here is how to add services to your Google Business Profile.
Built on our garage set-up
Mobile mechanics start from the same set-up as our receptionist for garages and MOT centres. When you sign up, choose "Garages and MOT centres" as your industry, then add the areas you cover and the work you do on the driveway.
